Meet The Committee

Secretary Mike Hope

Mike is the only founder member of the club still match fishing. Mike has been the Secretary of the club for the past 12 years four years ago he combined this role with that of treasurer.

Mike has been involved in the local match fishing scene for more than 25 years, having fished as an individual, as part of a team and as a club member.

In 2004 he was instrumental in the club obtaining its own pool.

Mike’s vision at this time was to make the club one of the top clubs in the area, with a pool second to none and a match calender which would attract members to the club. In fact in the last two years the club has had a waiting list for full membership.

With the many contacts Mike has made over the years he has managed  to establish the club and the objectives have been met , making the club the envy of many others.

Bailiff Graham Mitchenall.

In his second year as a committee member (a role he combines with his duties as club bailiff) Graham has made his presence known in many ways.

The work that he does at the pool be it keeping the grass and banks cut, repairing pegs, selling bait, giving advice or making the tea it is difficult to imagine how we would cope without him.

In addition to his work as bailiff Graham always has his say at committee meeting and like the rest of the committee he supports the aim of continued progression of the club.

Any one fishing the pool would have a poorer day if they did not ask Graham about what pegs are producing and the baits needed.

As our “hands on” guy Tony has made many valuable contributions that ensure all the things that members take for granted actually happen.

Steve Hope

Steve has been involved in the match fishing scene for more years than he cares to remember.

He was an active member of the club for many years before leaving the area and until last year held the the club record for the the heaviest match weight. His record as a match angler both within club matches and opens compares favorably with the best.

Having fished some of last years matches as a guest he decided to rejoin the club and at this years AGM was elected to the committee. He is someone who is able to put good ideas into practice and has been instrumental in the development and design of the clubs website.

He shares the same work ethic and vision of the other members of the committee which see’s club go from strength to strength.

Mark ” Jock”Eriksen.

Having only taken up angling in 2009 Jock is very new to the angling scene and decided to join the club in December 2009.

A month later he was co opted onto the committee with the responsibility for fund raising. In the short time he has been in this role he has enabled the club to purchase c3000 of fish and his intention is that we continue to raise and invest money into the club.

Jock strongly believes that to clubs and individuals a full package is important and he was instrumental in the clubs HQ offering  pre-match breakfasts or an after match drink or snack.

His enthusiasm will ensure he succeeds in raising money in difficult times.

Dave Yapp.

The elder statesman of the committee Dave has seen it all and done most of it in person.

Dave has had a 40-year association with Heenan’s AC and still holds the position of Chairman.

A  no nonsense approach, his years of experience and his willingness to help make Dave an Important part our club and committee. Dave is the voice of reason and the steadying hand when it is needed.

Not as young and agile  as he once was (he is 93 after all) but he’s always one of the first there when things need doing. Usually seen with almost as old partner in crime Dave Warren.
