The Whitehall Angling Club

The Whitehall Angling Club has gone from strength to strength since its inception 2 years ago, even though the club, under different names has been in existence for more than 10 years.

In addition to its angling activities the club also offers a wide range of social events including, race nights, music nights, quizzes, and poker nights.

The club has its own 29-peg pool situated on the A44 (the main Worcester to Bromyard Road at Cotheridge.

The pool is stocked with most breeds of carp, (common, mirror, crucian and grass, F1), as well as chub, roach, rudd, bream, tench, gudgeon,Ide, Perch and eels.

The weights vary from ounces to almost 20lbs.

The pool challenges anglers because of its depth, contours and features; at its deepest the pool is 18 feet, with a number of pegs having five foot of water under the anglers feet.

The pool was, like a number of local venues, badly affected by the July floods of 2008, with match weights being disappointing, but pleasure weights regularly exceeding 100lbs.

A phased restocking program has addressed this problem with in excess of 6000 fish being stocked in late 2009/early 2010.

The club offers two membership levels:

FULL – which allows members to fish club matches and pleasure fish the club pool.

PLEASURE – which enables members to fish as often as they want providing the pool is not booked for a match.

DAY TICKETS- Can be purchased at a very reasonable rate of £5.

Because of its pro-active committee unlike a number of local clubs membership is on the increase and at this moment in time there is a waiting list in operation for full membership although there are still a few vacancies for day membership available.
