Well done young man.I think we have a new rising star here.

The picture to the right shows one of the clubs more mature anglers in the shape of Dave Warren with another clonking fish of well over the pound mark. Dave was in permanent peg 12 and used red maggot as bait.

With plenty of silver fish also being caught (including Chub,Ide,Roach and Rudd) and even the odd Carp showing the pool is really showing what a fine winter venue it is. This is shown in the fact that the first in the latest series of winter silver fish only matches is already a sell out.

Directions.

Unfortunately I could not find a post code for this venue but if you turn off the A38 into Dilmore lane and continue into countryside, down the hill and sharp right ( with the canal on left ), over canal bridge and sharp right again ( the canal is now on your right ), continue 200yds and through gate for the car park. There is a second car park that can be used for members pegged in the top section after the draw.

General Info.

For Sundays match the baits to take are worms, casters, pinkies, maggots and liquidized bread to go with the punch bread ground-bait would be canal black should you wish to use it.

You can fish how ever you see fit but i would say fish the bread over to the far shelf with chop worm and caster in a tangerine size ball of ground-bait with pinkies and maggots on your inside line. You will need to work out on the day the feeding pattern due to the amount of boat traffic or the weather. You will need to work hard to keep the fish coming rotating your swims so not to spook the shoal.

You will have the top three sections bills, spinners, and members sections though what i am finding is the members section is hard and bills is catching f’*%k knows how due to the loss of water so my advice would to be get as many as you dare in spinners section and spit the remaining anglers over the other two sections.

Information above supplied by Wayne of the Rifleman’s Arms AC.

Last Weeks Match Report. (Taken From The Worcester News Friday 7th October 2011)

The latest Arbo match on the Rifleman’s section of the Droitwich canal turned into a close fought contest with just 11 ounces separating the top three anglers.

Eventual winner Tim Yapp, like all the leading contenders, was drawn in the second pound where he offered worm bait across a far bank reed bed in order to weigh in a roach, perch and rudd net going 5-11-8. Colin Sherwood came second with 5-4-0 on waggler and maggot. Graham Clarke’s 5-0-8 mixed bag was good enough for third while club secretary Ray Hodgetts finished in fourth place with 4-5-8.

Silver Fish Match Review.

The final match of the new club venture was fished on Sunday 17th April at the club pool.

When it was decided to hold these unique matches no one planning and organising them could have imagined the support and the effect that they would have on the club.

It is true to say that these matches have exceeded all expectations of the organisers and committee.

Of the matches two were held in November 2010 and the remainder between February and April 2011.

The following is a summary of the identified benefits:

In all 90 people fished these matches averaging 13 anglers per match

40% of people fishing were non club members who were from 8 other clubs

5 of the matches had weights in excess of 85lbs with nearly half the matches having weights of 100lbs plus

An average weight of 8lbs per angler per contest resulted

The local media coverage has again enhanced the reputation of the club

As a result of these matches the club has recruited new members

The high number of compliments received concerning the organisation, the pool and the club in general has added to this

The club headquarters, The Whitehall Inn has also benifitteded with prematch breakfasts and after match drinks

The positive effects of these matches on the club will have future benefits and members should not under value these matches.

The committee anticipates that as a result of these matches attendances at the forthcoming Thursday open matches will increase.

We hope that the members who could not fish these Sunday matches will take part in future open matches.

Thanks must go to everyone involved in making these matches the resounding success they were.

Although a match it can be fished by both the match group and day members so as well as being a competitive match it has a great social atmosphere with loads of banter flying round.

As always this year’s match was superbly organized by Dave Warren ably assisted by the evergreen Dave Yapp. Even by their own very high standards the two Dave’s (also known as Team Dave among other things) managed to excel themselves this year with a prize list that would not look out of place anywhere in the match angling scene and breakfast roll’s and drinks that were just fantastic.

A big thank you also to our hosts Ron and Fiona at our HQ The Whitehall Inn Rushwick who once again made everyone most welcome and to Jock for taking the photographs of the happy prize winners featured on this page.

The match itself may have fished better for some than others but thanks to Team Dave everyone went home happy with a great prize.

A s you can see from the prize list below this match is going to be a hard act to follow but if you can help Team Dave by donating a prize for the 2011 Fur And Feather please contact Dave Warren.

The club pool continues to fish extremely well at the moment with lots of silver fish and the odd smaller Carp being caught.

On Saturday (8th) a small group of members met up for a knock up with them all catching a good number of silver fish and one or two good carp were hooked and lost. The evergreen Dave Wagg caught five different species of fish including a Chub of nearly a pound

Team Dave fished the pool on Wednesday (19th) with Dave the younger (Warren) catching Roach and Rudd from the start to the end of his session,he also caught some smaller Carp and a lovely Fan Tailed Gold fish of over four pounds. An under the weather Dave Yapp also managed a lovely bag of silvers despite suffering from a lot of bumped off fish.

Although the weather forecast is indicating a drop in temperature over the coming weekend I’m sure that there will be plenty of silver fish action to be had from the deeper pegs at the top end of the pool

8th January 2010.

Despite the pool still being partially frozen over there still seems to be interest from both the fish and anglers alike.

Committee man Tony Staite was once again showing off his silver fish prowess taking a lovely bag of Roach and Perch from the clearer top end of the pool. In his catch were fish of over a pound of both species.

The pool itself has escaped the cold spell relatively unscathed with just one small Carp being seen dead in the margins.

Would members please note that the gate codes are now on the 2011 schedule and a list of which will be given to all members when they renew their membership.

The pictures on this page are from last winter so if anyone has any pictures of their catches from this winter please upload them and we will endeavour to use them all.

12th Febuary 2011.

The club Pool continues to fish really for the time of year with lots of silver fish bags being reported and the odd Carp showing.

The Pool recently played host to the Halfway House A.C who had a good match with a winning weight of 53 LB 8OZS for the talented Colin Bradley. Colin took all his fish on sweet corn from permanent peg 12.

Way behind in second was Steve Williams with 15-9 consisting of one good carp and silvers from peg five.

Steve Jones’ 15-4 catch was followed by Mick Watling with 14-10.

Although small I’m sure that these supper fish will soon grow on and give us all plenty of sport in the years to come.

It is only through the fund raising efforts of the committee that we are able to afford to carry out this restocking programe so it really is important that ALL MEMBERS do their bit and support these fund raising events.
