Members of the Whitehall AC fished their annual king of sections final on their club pool at Cotheridge.
The recent cold weather made anglers work for bites and fish.
Drawn on peg 4 Carl Graham decided to use pellet fished 7 meters which resulted in six carp for a match winning weight of 40 08 00.
Club champion Matt Barnes drawn on peg 17 who alternated between worm fished at 10 metres and paste fished in the margin for 34 00 00 of carp and silver fish.
In third place on peg 5 Steve Mitchenhall ledgered maggot for two carp weighing 18 00 00. A mixed bag of silvers and carp taken on worm from peg 24 gave John Snelson fourth place.
Section winners were Tony Staite 13 10 00, Colin Davies 12.10 00 and
John Snelson 15 10 00.

Club Match Pete’s Lake, Tirley Court 23rd October 2011.
The latest Whitehall AC contest was fished on the match pool at Tirley Court.
The recent cold weather made anglers work for bites and fish.
However Mark Bayliss making a rare appearance drawn on peg 17 made light work of the conditions, alternating between ledgered meat and corn fished at 12 metres his all carp bag of 115 07 00 won the match.
In second place was Tony Hawker on peg 12 who fished maggot and meat on the pole to scale 62.13 00 of carp.
Dan Sydall on peg 10 ledgered maggot and corn for 62.06 00 of carp, Nigel Crane kept up his good run with 60 04 00 of paste caught carp from peg 6.
Section winners were Matt Barnes 55 00 00, Nigel Crane 60.04 00, Carl Graham 60.00.00 and John Snelson 36 07 00.

Club Match. Droitwich Canal. 10th October 2011.
The latest Whitehall AC contest was fished on the Riflemans Arms stretch of the Droitwich canal.
It was a contest of small fish with members having to target species other than carp.
Matt Barnes continued his run of good form, by scaling 11 09 00 of pinky and worm caught perch taken from two swims, the margins and mid water.
There was a tie for second place with a weight of 5 12 00, Nigel Crane on peg 8 and Les Thompson on peg 15 both using maggot for an all perch bag.
Completing the frame was Lennie Merrill on peg 3 with 4 15 00 of small fish taken on pinky.
Section winners were Lennie Merrall 4 15 00 and Keith Holt 2 13 00.

The latest Whitehall AC contest was fished at Leigh Sinton Fishery on Bluebell Pool.
Members found fish reluctant to feed with most anglers having to settle for a single fish.
Drawn on peg 16 Keith Holt used meat and maggot on the feeder to tempt three carp for a winning weight of 19 02 00.
In peg 6 Matt Barnes used pellet fished on the waggler just below the surface for a carp bag of 13 12 00.
On peg 20 Mick Watling used worm to net 12 00 00, a single carp on peg 10 was enough to give Lennie Merrell fourth place.
Section winners were Carl Graham 5 02 00 and Mick Watling 12 00 00.

The latest Whitehall AC contest was fished at Cobb Hose Fishery on Laughne Island Pool.
Drawn on permanent peg 16 Carl Graham fished corn in the margins for an all carp bag of 185 14 00, taking fish to 7lbs.
On peg 28 Dave Warren, after failing to catch on the method feeder switched to paste fished at 5 metres for an carp net of 164 00 00.
In third place on peg 8 Matt Barnes alternated between feeder fished maggot and maggot to temp a carp bag of 150 14 00. Fourth place went to Dan Sydall on peg 6 who feeder fished maggot to weigh 139 02 00.
Section winners were John Snelson 92 12 00, Mike Hope 94 14 00 and Nigel Crane 113 00 00.

The latest Whitehall AC contest was fished on the Hallow AC pools at little Witley.
Members found the fish reluctant to bite.
However Matt Barnes drawn on permanent peg 17 fished maggot tight to the bank to net an all carp bag of 53 06 00.
In second place was last week’s winner Tony Staite who fishing peg 27 with paste at 5 metres caught 29 09 00 of carp.
Third and fourth place was a closer affair with canal expert Colin Davies on peg 7 weighed in 28 10 of pellet caught carp just beating Lennie Merrell on peg 5 who had 28 06.
Section winners were, Keith Holt 27 02 00, Carl Graham 15 12 00 and
Nigel Crane 18 06 00.

Club Match.Elmbridge Fisheries, Pheasant Pool.14th August 2011.
The latest Whitehall AC contest was fished on the Pheasant pool at Elmbridge.
Drawn on peg 10 Anthony Staite decided to fish paste at 5 metres and caught consistently throughout the match for a winning all carp weight of 110 03 00.
In second place Nigel Crane continued his good run of form by fishing paste in the margins of peg 13 for an all carp bag of 99 10 00.
In third place was ever consistent Dave Warren who fished paste at 7 metres on peg 05 for a carp and bream net of 57 08 00. Completing the winners was Matt Barnes who on peg 20 used paste and corn for a mixed bag of 54 03 00.
Section winners were, Lennie Merrell 53 08 00, Carl Graham 34 09 00, Matt Barnes 54 03 00 and John Hawker 42.00 00.

Members and guests of the Whitehall AC fished the annual Ron Goldsby invitation match on the club pool at Cotheridge.
Winner Mick Watling was drawn on peg 8 he fished large white pellet at 7 metres to take an all carp bag of 37 08 00.
In second place club veteran Dave Yapp on peg 27 fished the margins with paste for an all carp net of 21 10 00.
Third place went to Dave Warren on peg 4 with a mixed bag of 19 12 00 caught on pellet, fourth place went to Mike Hope on peg 26 with 17 02 00 of maggot caught carp, roach and perch.
Whitehall A.C Doubles Match. At The Club Pool. 6th August 2011.
Members of the Whitehall AC fished their annual pairs competition at the club pool at Cotheridge.
Overall winner was Dave Warren who fished paste on peg 4 for a bream and carp bag of 40 14 00.
In second place was Dan Sydall who on peg 12 fished the method feeder for an all carp bag of 27 10 00. Third place went to Nigel Crane on peg 8 who maggot caught carp and silver fish net weighed 25 00 00.
For the third year running Team Dave (Dave Warren and Dave Yapp) won the event.

Thursday Evening Open. At The Club pool. 28th July 2011.
The final Whitehall AC two and half hour open match was fished on the club pool at Cotheridge.
Dave Warren once again proved his knowledge of the venue by winning the match. Drawn on peg 10 he fished paste at 10 metres for a winning weight of 40 02 00 of carp.
Keith Holt in peg 1 used meat fished at midwater to scale 38 13 00 of carp.
In third place was Mike Hope who managed 30 00 00 of carp and silver fish caught in the margins on maggot.
Club Match At the Club Pool 31st July 2011.
The latest Whitehall AC match was fished on the clubs pool at Cotheridge.
Nigel Crane made it two contest wins on the trot, drawn on peg 22 he fished the margins with maggot to scale 61 10 00 of carp and bream.
Carl Graham drawn on peg 27 finished second, he fished meat in the margins for an all carp bag weighing 57 10 00.
In third place was Mike Hope who using maggot fished the margins of peg 26 for a carp and silver fish net of 22 08 00.
This beat Dave Warren by 2 ounces who fished the paste at 8 metres on peg 9 for a carp and silver fish bag of 22 06 00.
Section Winners were, Dave Warren 22 06 00, Lennie Merrell 14 09 00 and Dave Wagg 7 00 00.

Ern Hope /Harold Lock Memorial Match. Club Pool. 24th July 2011.
Members of the Whitehall AC fished the annual Ern Hope/Harold Lock memorial match on the club pool at Cotheridge.
Winner Nigel Crane was drawn on peg 26 but found that his favoured paste bait did not attract many fish. He switched to cat meat, fished at 5 metres and this produced a success of fish, his all carp bag of 64 02 00 doubling the weight of the second placed angler.
Drawn on peg 5 Keith Holt fished pellet in the margin for a carp and silver fish catch of 26 08 00.
Third place went to Dave warren who fished the paste on peg 17 for an all carp bag of 23 12 00.

The latest Whitehall AC two and a half hour evening open match was fished on the clubs pool at Cotheridge.
Drawn on peg 12 Dave Warren (Whitehall AC) used his knowledge of the pool and fished paste at 5 metres to net 15 10 00 of small carp.
Second place went to Mike Hope (Whitehall AC) who fished the margins of peg 24 with maggots to scale 13 04 00 of silver fish.
In third place was match regular Keith Holt (Whitehall AC) on peg 10 who fished pellet to net 12 02 00 of small carp and silver fish.
Derrick Stephens (Portobello AC) on peg 4 was fourth with 6 03 00 of silver fish.
Portobello A.C Match. Club Pool 17th July 2011.
SOUTHERN exile Ron Eagle bagged carp to double figures and around 13lbs of silvers to dominate Portobello’s angling contest on the prolific Whitehall Pool at Cotheridge.
From permanent peg eight, small fish expert Eagle offered meat and maggot bait at six metres as well as into the margins for an excellent winning weight of 72lbs 1oz.
Consistent Stuart Tibbetts finished second with a mainly carp net taken on meat and pellet from peg 11 going 59-13.
Making a rare appearance on the leaderboard was Jim Daley whose 51-12 net of carp to 14lbs from maggot on fancied peg one beat Mark Burbeck’s fourth-placed 39-12.
Portobello are on their own pool at Rushwick this weekend where the recent stocking of 2,000 small carp should help with catches.

Nigel Crane beat his own Whitehall club record when he took a staggering 192-13 from Cobb House Fisheries’ Wyatts pool.
Runner-up was Carl Graham with 159-2 from peg 25, Andy Sankey (131-8) came third off peg 12 and fourth was Colin Davis (112-8).

Whitehall A.C. Club Match Duck Pond Pool.Leigh Sinton Fisheries. 2nd July 2011.
The latest Whitehall AC match was fished at Leigh Sinton Fisheries on Woodland Pool as the original venue was not fishable.
Whilst weights were not high the results were close.
Continuing his run of good form Lennie Merrell drawn on peg 4 used meat and maggots fished at 5 metres for a mixed bag weighing 16 04 00.
In second place Tony O’Neil used corn to take a Small carp bag of 14 07 00.
In peg 11 Matt Barnes used maggot fished in the margins to scale 12 07 00 of mixed species.
Completing the winners was Dan Sydall with 10.04 of mixed fish taken on the maggot.
Section winners were Tony Staite 7 08 00, Dave Wagg 9 00 00, Dan Sydall 10 04 00 and Nigel Crane 0 11 00.

The latest Whitehall AC two and a half hour open match fished at the clubs pool at Cotheridge proved to be another close match.
Drawn on in form peg 9 club member Tony Hawker used paste in the margins to net an all carp bag of 20 15 00.
Lee Davey (Brewers AC) continued his run of form drawn on peg 4 using meat in the margins his all carp bag went 20 10 00, the loss of a good fish in the last five minutes costing him the match.
Dave Warren (Whitehall AC) drawn on peg 27 used paste for a weight of 15 05 00 of carp and silver fish.
Completing the places was Derrick Stephens (Portobello AC) who scaled 14 06 00 of carp, bream and roach.
These matches are open to everyone and will run for the next four weeks.

The latest Whitehall AC match was fished on the match pool at Broadacres.
Anglers found the fish reluctant to bite until the last hour of the match.
In first place was Matt Barnes, his second win in four days, from peg 30 he used pellets in the feeder with meat on the hook to land 35 08 00 of carp.
In second place on peg 6 was Dave Warren who used the method feeder to scale 22 08 00 of carp and silvers most of his fish coming in the last half hour.
Pole fished cat meat on peg 28 for a weight of 14 00 00 was enough to give Keith Holt third place.
Completing the line up was Tony O’Neil on peg 16who ledged corn for 13 10 00 of carp.

The latest Whitehall two and a half hour open match again produced good weights for the anglers.
In first place from peg 9 was club member Matt Barnes who used paste fished at 7 metres for an all carp bag of 30 00.00.
In the next peg Lee Davy (Brewers AC) used similar tactics for a weight of 26 08 00.
Bill Hartland (Severn Stoke AC) on peg 27 opted to catch roach and rudd on maggot to scale 20 08 00.

Whitehall AC Match Report Hill Veiw Canals 3&4 4th June 2011.
The latest Whitehall AC match was fished at Hillview on canals 1 and 2.
The match proved to be a close affair with less than a pound separating the top three places.
Local match ace Lennie Merrell made it two wins in a row, using pellet on peg 46 offered on the far bank he netted an all carp bag of 36 08 00.
Just an ounce behind for second place was Keith Holt who used similar tactics on peg 57 scaled 36 07 00 of carp.
On peg 62 the same tactics saw canal ace Colin Davies net 35 09 00 of carp.
In fourth place on peg 58 was Graham Mitchenhall who used pellet mid away across to net 21 14 00 of carp.
Section winners were Paul Edwards 20 10 00, Dave Warren, 20 10 00, Tony Staite 11 08 00, Dave Yapp 19 07 00 and Graham Mitchenhall 21 14 00.

The second two and a half hour evening open match was fished on the club pool at Cotheridge.
All participants found the fish eager to feed with every one catching double figure bags.
The winner Lee Davey (Brewers AC) drawn in peg 11 used meat in the margin, for an all carp bag weighing 31 10 00.
Whitehall member Keith Holt on peg 4 used pellet and paste at 5 metres to net a carp and silver fish bag of 26 03 00. In peg 7 Tony Hawker (Whitehall AC) fish the margins on maggot for an all carp bag of 26 00 00.
Club stalwart Dave Warren used paste in peg 9 for a carp and bream bag of 24 04 00.

Dave Warren’s affinity with the carp in the Whitehall Pool continued when the host club member easily beat all comers to win the first round of the popular Thursday evening open on the venue with 39-14.
Drawn on peg nine, Warren offered paste bait at six metres to take an all-carp net.
Runner-up was Fox AC’s Lee Davey who used maggot and corn on peg 27 to weigh in one carp among a bag of silver fish going 16-2.
Third was Bill Hartland with an all-silver fish net of 13-10.

Carp Catch Has Warren Netting All The Honours
Dave Warren made peg nine on the Broadheath pool come to life by winning his club’s final spring open with an excellent catch of46lbs14ozs.
With carp allowed for this last match in the series, Warren made no mistake and marked a return to form with a comfortable victory.
He took carp along with Rudd and roach on pellet and maggot bait offered in the upper layers of this prolific venue.
An all-carp net of 32-8-0, taken in similar style to the winner, secured Matt Schappell the runner-up prize from peg 12.
Seasoned campaigner Keith Holt took third place with another mixed bag from peg 29, going 25-8-0,to beat Colin Davis’ 24-8-0all-carp fourth placed catch.
The Whitehall club are staging a series of Thursday evening open contests on the pool, starting on May 26.

Once again the sell-out entry in the Whitehall AC silver fish open needed double figures to make the frame with Kempsey’s Alf Hand making it a hat-trick of wins in the series.
Offering red maggot shallow on peg 10 enabled Hand to catch from the off, netting around 50 rudd and roach in the first hour.
Unwelcome carp turned up in the peg, slowing the going drastically and leaving him with around 140 fish for a four-hour total of 16-0.
Previous winner John Shelton (St John’s) again showed his consistency by taking the runner-up spot with 12-1 of small fish from peg 24.
Phoenix ace Alan Baldwin was third with 10-8, narrowly beating Matt Barnes (MFS) with 10-6 from peg 20.
With the amount of carp now feeding on the pool, the next Whitehall open on April 16 will be an all-in match.

Meanwhile, the latest Whitehall silver fish series contest produced a string of double-figure nets.
On top with a weight of 17-4 was Alf Hand (Kempsey), who netted roach and rudd by presenting maggot bait shallow on peg eight.
Previous round winner John Shelton came second with a similar net to the winner from peg 12, weighing 12-2.
Third was pole ace Alan Baldwin with 11-11 off peg 27 ahead of Colin Davis’ 10-2.
More than 100lbs of silver fish was taken in the four-hour event with the next series match on April 3.

John Shelton made it two wins in a row with 12-2 of small roach and rudd to win Whitehall’s silver fish open.
The veteran matchman offered maggot bait hard on the bottom of his peg 20 on the club pool.
Second place went to Keith Holt (Whitehall AC) with 9-13 from peg eight and third was organising club secretary Mike Hope with a rare appearance on the leaderboard thanks to 9-1 from fancied peg 24.
Fourth was Bill Hartland with 7-6. The next match is on Sunday, March 20th 2011.

SHELTON TRIUMPHS OVER QUALITY FIELD
FLOAT-fishing veteran John Shelton beat a talented capacity turn-out to narrowly win Whitehall Angling Club’s latest silver fish open, held at Cotheridge.
The St John’s matchman targeted small roach and Rudd to net around 60 fish, all taken on maggot from a four feet deep swim on peg 27for a four-hour total of 9-8-0.
Previous round winner Alf Hand (Kempsey) had to settle for second place when he took a similar net off peg 20going 9-1-0.
In third was pole ace Alan Baldwin who included two huge perch in his maggot caught 8-14-0 off peg eight which was good enough to beat Keith Holt’s fourth placed catch of 8-1-0.
Their will be limited places available for the next match in the series on Sunday, March 6th .
